how to install jdk effectively?

Need help.i have installed jdk1.6_13.after installing jdk whenever i am trying to run java program i m facing runtime error.how to overcome the problem??

Please post a brief description of the error. and also mention when you get this error messages and in which program...
If possible put a screenshot of the error meassge.

Try to run the simplest "hello" program.

actually i m unable to describe the problem here fully.the main problem is i m unable to set the "path" properly.would u plz describe the procedure to set the path.....

To run a java program simply follow one of the following steps:

(1): Goto Start>>Run then type cmd and press enter.
type "cd\"
then type "cd C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\Bin" or wherever u installed jdk..
then run the program from there..


(2): Another process is to set the path to java's bin directory.
First right click on My Computer>>goto Properties>>click Advanced tab>>goto Environment variable..
there u will see two box. one is user variable for administrator and another is "system variables"
Now click on first "New" button
On variable name type "JAVA_HOME" (without quote) and in variable value type "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0"
then press ok.

now on the second box find "path" under variable. click on path end press edit.
In the variable value go to the end of the line and put "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\Bin" then press ok.

Remember C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0 :- this is the path where u installed jdk1.6 this will change if u installed jdk in different location or if u installed different versions.
